P R I S M (working title)
choreographic research on how research-creation processes involving technology can serve to reveal previously unknown, hidden or unusual aspects of the body, and, at the same time, reflect a different vision of ourselves and the way we move and think. A journey into perception.
First research phase "Digital states/Digital stages"was supported by Fonds Darstellende Künste with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media within the program NEUSTART KULTUR and WIESE eG-.
Research phases "BRAINDANCE" (2022) and "Ontology of Sensoriality" (2023) supported by DIS-TANZ-SOLO programme (Funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media within the framework of the initiative NEUSTART KULTUR, aid programm DIS-TANZEN by the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland).
“our personal neural networks merge with global networks to create a new space of consciousness” ( Roy Ascott)
"P R I S M" is a research project of the choreographer Irina Demina on how research-creation processes involving technology can serve to reveal previously unknown, hidden or unusual aspects of the body, and, at the same time, reflect a different vision of ourselves and the way we move and think. How technology can help us to expand sensitivities about the art of movement.
Involving EEG and digital technologies allows external data to take visual (or sonic) forms. This feedback signal returns to the performer’s body as feedback from movement in the form of digital data, which induces reorganization of the performer’s neural networks and endows a performer with a spatial and sensory dimension, which is fruitful for elaborating new movement ideas. The body renews perception and enters a renewed dialogue with itself and its senses, so that new body configurations and movements can result from conversations between the nervous system and technologies.
